Case Impressions: Exact Buckler Series case for Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1
I am a happy new owner of the Galaxy TabPro 10.1, and here are my impression of the first case I bought for this tablet. As the name of the case suggests, this case intends to be a shield for the TabPro 10.1. The case earns its name by being a sturdy hard-shelled case in a leatherette folio style. The case should protect well in case of a drop; corners are well guarded by the tabs on the case. Even with its emphasis on protection, the case remains lightweight. I prefer this style of hard shell case with leatherette covering. It lends the case some give, so it does not have a brittle feel like a typical hard plastic case.
The case fits great. What I liked was that the claws arenít too tight, so itís easy to pop the edge of the tablet out to use the viewing stand. The same goes for the cover latchĖsecure, but not too tight. I appreciate the 3 stand options, including the shallow viewing angle, and typing felt natural on the third, lowest notch.
My favorite aspect of this case is the one-handed usage. When the cover is folded back, I can secure the unit with a strap attached to the inside of the cover. I then slide my hand into the thick elastic strap and I can confidently hold the Tab Pro in one hand. In this configuration, I can see why they called this the "buckler," not that I would parry anything with my Tab Pro!
A quick word on the leather material: itís PU leather, not the real stuff. But it feels adequately soft, and looks/smells like the actual thing. I am happy about the quality-to-price ratio for this case. Another thing: there is no sleep/wake magnet in this case. But given the recent issues in the Note 10.1 2014 Edition with the digitalizer and magnets in cases, this could be a good thing. I look forward to spending more time with this tablet coupled with the Buckler case.
