I've just recently bought the Lenovo a269i (see full specs below)

MT6572 1.0 GHz Dual Core
Operating System
Android™ OS
v2.3 Ginger Bread
Capacitive 3.5” HVGA (480 x 320)
112 g (0.246 lbs)
Li-Po 1300 mAh replaceable
Up to 19 hours of non-stop talk time
Up to 21 days of stand by time
Integrated Camera
2 MP Fixed Focus Rear Camera
256 MB RAM
512 MB ROM
Expandable upto 32 GB
2G Network: GSM 900/1800
3G Network: WCDMA 2100 MHz
Speed: HSPA 7.2 Mbps(DL), 5.76 Mbps(UL) / EDGE
WLAN: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot
Bluetooth®: 2.0 High Speed
Dual, regular SIM
G-Sensor (Accelerometer)
Software-enabled touchscreen
Proximity detection

I'd like to upgrade its OS from 2.3.6 Gingerbread To 4.2 Jelly Bean and to be honest I'm new to all this and had no single idea but with the help of you experts here then Its going to be a cake walk. Please give me the steps before I proceed, if there is anything to check about the current phones info, or the complicated stuff.

I'll try to make a search in this forum but I'll make this thread head on.

Hello, sorry to bother you with somewhat unrelated answer, but can you send me a backup of your current firmware? I've bought the same phone from chinese retailer, and it's firmware is modified for china - chinese appmarket is the worst And it doesn't even support google market - it crashes upon launch.
So, could you please send me a copy of your phone's firmware?

I have a Lenovo A269i bought from here (now sold out):

Take a look. I believe it's already rooted and can also use the Play Store but I'm not sure since I only use it as a MiFi hotspot device. If it's the same phone as yours then I can help create a backup rom and post it here, provided you list down all the steps I need to do to create one using only free tools. Safely. I'm not risking my MiFi device.
