Default [Q] How do I root my EVO 4G?

I recently obtained an old HTC EVO 4G from a friend. I would really love to root it and what not, however I have encountered a problem. I do have android 2.3.5 and Hboot 2.18, but I also noticed that I have a newer version of the HTC software (build number 5.07.651.6 CL558861 release-keys and software number 5.07.651.6710RD to be exact). I do not see any guides that mention this software version at all, so is rooting possible or am I just out of luck? The phone is also deactivated (I have read that the phone does not need to be activated to be rooted, but I could be wrong).
