Default [Q] Merge messages from two phones

My G2 was bootlooped so I switched back to my GNex for a couple weeks since I didn't have any time to repair it. Now that my G2 is back up and running, I want to add all of my new sms/mms that I got back into my G2 without overwriting the old messages. Any suggestions?

I also want to add that this applies to group messages as well.

I've used the app SMS Backup & Restore and I believe it supports this feature.

I'm not too sure about group messaging though.

Does it merge or overwrite though? The few that I tried all overwrote the current messaging file. I tried looking up a tutorial at how to edit xml files but it was way out of my league.

I believe it merges them and it also provides you with an option to check for duplicates.

Going to take quite a bit of time since theres so many but it seems to be working since I can just tell it to restore after a certain date, thanks. Hopefully the group messages will be intact. (A lot of work messages)

It seemed to have broken those group messages, not that big of deal since I can go to the individual messages. The one thing it did was put every person I was ever in a group message with at the top of the message list and break up the group conversations. So now I have messages from last July at the top of my list from people I haven't spoken to in a while... really weird.

edit:Hangouts seems to be viewing everything correctly. Will just use that for the time being. Any one have suggestions on best way to view old messages on your computer? I have some from my engagement and a friend who passed a couple years ago and I'd like to save them, but not necessarily need them on my phone.
