Storage [Q] OTG issues

So as of recent I've been having some issues with usb-otg host support on http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2391779 with ElementalX 1.8 kernel, otg charging disabled (no I'm not moving to kitkat until they fix the gfx drivers).
When I connect my hard drive directly, it turns on for a few seconds then turns off without mounting.
When I connect it through a hub, both the hub and the hard drive stay powered until I disconnect, but the hard drive is not recognized.
When I power the hub and connect, the hard drive turns off while the USB hub stays lit.
dmesg always says "hub 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1"
Any way to fix this?

What ROM? Carbon?
Kenneth, what is the frequency? Set a fire for a man, and he will stay warm for a night. Set a man on fire, and he will stay warm for the rest of his life.

Did you post your issue to them? It's not a kernel thing (I use Elemental and OTG works great as it has with every single kernel I've ever used, but I always use stock ROM), it's a ROM or cable, device issue. Recent Carbon ROM has an issue with OTG, thought maybe that was it.
