Purchasing apps in desktop browser problem

So I bought an app on playstore via chrome using my laptop, but after going through the purchasing instructions, I get the error cannot process blah, blah, at the moment. So I tried to purchase it on my phone, it went through. My question is, was I charged twice or just once?

If you used the same Gmail account you have been charged once.
Check your Google account to be sure. You can find all your purchases.
