no it doesn't change the kernel unless it had an option to do so

flashing the kernel sawdoctor suggested should be the similar way of you flashing cyanogenmod

Hi I installed Cyanogen mod by using CF auto root, then flashing cyanogenmod via odin. I have Cyanogenmod installed currently. I tried to install the kernal via flashing through the recovery, cyaogenmod then boot loops and doesn't start.
