Default VLC with Chromecast

Hi there,

Now that the SDK has been released, does anyone know if VLC is going to support Chromecast? It'd be great to cast videos from my computer along with subtitles.

Thanks!

Real is just a matter of perception.

We got two programs for Chromecast based on VLC:
Fling (vlcj library)
Mongoose

At VLC trac you may see one ticked:

On videolan forums there are no new posts on Chromecast so you should spread Chromecast SDK News there.

I use VLC to transcode my cable TV to Plex. Then I can connect to Plex with my CC and cast live TV..

So, in a sense. It's already been done.

VLC can transcode videos and he is asking if they might add a function to directly send the transcoded video to VLC. Honestly? Will not happen soon.

Sreaming transcoded content from VLC to CC and will be huge but not extreme effort from VLC developers.
There already is a dirty workaround.:
