Tutorial [GUIDE][HOW-TO]Update to latest Official Firmware[All Samsung Device]

About this Guide:

In this guide you will learn how to Update your phone to the latest stock firmware available for your device for your region/country with Kies.
  • You will make your device status from Un-official To Official.
  • Your device will get Un-Rooted and all the changes you have made by rooting the device will be fixed .
  • If you have flashed wrong stock ROM or of other Region/Country this will fix it.
  • Fix software problems you face

Note:
  • If you have Bricked your device or your device is Not booting Up This thread is Not for you.
  • For those who face Software problems are requested to try resetting your Phone to check if it fixes by it Before trying this.
    Quote:
    Go to Settings--> Back up and reset --> Factory Data Reset
Difficulty level: Easy

Things you need:
  • A computer with Kies installed.
  • Internet Connection.
  • USB Cable.
  • A working Brain .
  • Of-course the device to be updated.
Note:
For Example I will be using My Device - Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini "GT-I8190N"

Step 1:
  • Open Kies
  • Go to Tools
  • Firmware Upgrade and Instantiation
Step 2:
  • Enter Your Phone Model Number

    Go to Settings --> About Phone, Find Your Model Number
    Note: You Should Enter As it is in Settings i.e, "GT-I8190N"
Step 3:
  • Now Enter your device Serial Number

    Note: Go to Settings--> Status--> Find Serial Number.

Step 4:
  • Click "OK" to the Dialogue boxes

Now It will start Downloading Drivers etc to Flash..
Step 5:
  • Check "I have read all of the above Information."
  • Connect your device
  • Select "Proceed without saving"
  • Then Click "Start Upgrade"
  • All Moste Done!

It will now download and flash the Firmware to Your Device
Step 6:
  • Your device will Reboot and Install the firmware.
  • Reboot and You're Done!

Congratulations! Your Device is Now Official!
Step 7:
Hit the thanks button

Why is 4.1+ needed in this case?
Current Device: Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 GT-S6500D [Jena] { In its last breaths }
ROM: CyanogenMod 10.1 modified by bleached
RECOVERY: ClockWorkMod 6.0.x by TheWhisp

Good job.

However doing this with Odin is much easier. Odin does the same.
Also Odin does not require installation like Kies and very less disk space.

And some devices like Galaxy y GT-S5360 are not supported by Kies.

It is not only for 4.1+
I used this 1-2 months back on my SGS+ I9001 to install Android 2.3.6 from 2.3.4

Anyway, keep it up!

this method does not apply for all devices
some do not support firmware upgrade and initialization like gt-n8000

yes u are right... my GT-i9505 doesn,.t support initialisation... my device is already official but i want to make kies updates again...

1 silly question. will this method can be apply to old samsung device? i have samsung galaxy SL (gt-i9003) with CM11. thanks in advance
