Default Bypass Kit Kat SD write protection

lacrossev in the main HTC M8 forum found a way to edit the permissions.xml file to bypass the Kit Kat restrictions to write to the SD card. I followed the steps and it worked like a champ!

Thanks for posting this. So far this is one of the most annoying things to me about this phone.

Platform.xml seems to reset to default on reboot when using Root Explorer. Although it works when you goto recovery and adb push the platform.xml file and then chmod 644 the file.

Changes to system will not persist through a reboot until you disable SYSTEM write protection. This kernel module will do the trick. (Yes it works fine on Sprint phones.) You need root, obviously:
