How to root : Android 4.4.2 (OFFICIAL OTA / Temporal Method) / No longer necessary

To root:

1) unlock bootloader;

2) flash a custom recovery, like cwm, or twrp, or philz recovery. I prefer Philz recovery;

3) flash supersu zip;

4) Done!

You don't need of any other strange and overcomplicated method.

What if you have a bootloader that cannot be unlocked ? ie Verizon , would this work ?

If you can't unlock bootloader you can't have root in this case. There is not exploit to have root bypassing bootloader, not yet.
