For me they most do not work but some are proved to be working only a few and by few I mean REALLY FEW

The system scans build.prop for the lines ( those build.prop tweaks you add are merely placebo ) because they are not in Android's Source Code
In simpler terms the system scans them and renders them invalid so skips them they absolutely do nothing in my opinion

Android, after reading the code, simply skips them as they are invalid.
I got this from the thread featured in the XDA Portal

Ironically I use most of tweaks here

What happens if there are duplicate property lines with different values? Eg:
dalvik.vm.heapsize=36m
dalvik.vm.heapsize=256m

**It's there in stock build.prop!

Thanks for the link. Good info there:thumbup:

Well It is already proven that Build.prop tweaks are placebo so even if you put

dalvik.vm.heapsize=5000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000m

That will have absolutely no effect on performance whatsoever

Yeah.. but those two lines are in STOCK build.prop!! LoL.. How can they miss it..??

Btw, wanted to know what happens if two lines of same WORKING tweaks with different values are there. Thanks for replying..

Maybe the ROM you are using had some build.prop tweaks put by the creator

Nope. Stock Sony ROM downloaded from PCC (Singtel SG). Build.266 also had those two lines. Stock 4.1.2 also had it. It may me obsolete as you said..

The dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit value may be the important one I think..?
