I would be able to control it from my Samsung Galaxy S4 and I prefer it to have (custom) updates.
I have Dune media player, so HD video playing is not really essantial.

Any experiences with CS968 or Matricom G-box Midnight MX2 ? I guess the latter is somewhat overkill as it's only better for 1080P video ?
Top of the line: Cloudnetgo CR11S, the only device with true 1080p rom support.
Second, T-R42 works well but cheaper if money is an issue.
Another word of advice, streaming 1080 or 720, I can't tell the difference on my 50" plasma Panasonic, so don't get hung up on 1080 too much.
Both devices have great support and that's very important. Both can control by S4 RKremote app version 2.0 or higher.

Can anybody recommend me an android HDMI stick that will only play streamed video files?

I want to connect one of these sticks to my car stereo (using HDMI), and then use my phone and share content using bubbleupnp (DLNA) or whatever else.

The android stick will also need to provide an ad hoc wireless network so the phone can connect...
