I recently been having Google play not connect on my Hyperdriven GS4 I have found out all of the possible solutions. Here is a list of the possible solutions.

1. Restart your device
2. Wipe Dalvik Cache and Cache
3. Delete the "hosts" file from /system/etc
4. Make sure your Date and Time is correct.
5. Turn on Airplane mode then turn it off.
6. Update Google Play Services
7. Clear Data from App Info
8. Force Stop Google Play

Hope this helps

Also if you have the 'Freedom' app for free in app purchases then stop the Freedom service before using the Play Store
