Does "2nd Method - Rooting Script By dalingrin" works in KitKat?

From mixture of posts I conclude our doesn't. I've been advised not to update to KitKat on a SlimKat thread, I don't remember what was the exact issue. Anyway, as I'm going to use SlimKat (like on all my devices), I'm planning to check stock Jelly Bean for a day, root it with dalingrin script, flash TWRP and flash SlimKat.

Warning:
This thread had NOT been updated since januari,
and DOES NOT apply to people having 4.4.2/KitKat on their Gpads.

The described root method is for 4.2.2, so don't use it for anything else.

Not any of the above worked for me. I believe if you took the OTA update to 4.4.2, none of the root solutions will work, and neither will the sdCards.

Will wait and see until someone comes with something.

(Does work - See post 2 down #190)

Use ioroot.
It's not in this thread, this old thread applies only to 4.2.2

Sent from my LG-V500 using Tapatalk
This above *will* root with the new 4.4.2 OTA update installed. How do I know? I just did it by following, and being (EXTREMELY CAREFUL) step by step the instructions on this page: http://www.lg-phones.org/how-to-root-lg-g-pad-8-3-android-4-4-2-kitkat.html
Note: The SDK [Download] link is very large - 500 or so MB...I used a download manager. The ADB exe that must be installed in now in the 'Tools folder' if I remember correctly. This can be checked on your computer by checking the installed programs - this *MUST* be installed as that is what I missed before...not checking is mandatory.
Unzip the IOroot25 and run the bat file and be sure and look at the tablet afterwards. You'll see in portrait mode some orange type...(when booted in recovery, select: ‘apply update from adb’ with volume button, then press the power button {Not as stated on the Webpage). You'll then see the script run and it will ask you to reboot the tablet. YOU ARE ROOTED!! :good::good::laugh:

Get root and TWRP 2.7.0.1 from stock 4.4.2 (v50020a)

Here is a full description to get root and a TWRP 2.7.0.1 (from which you can flash any ROM) for all people who somehow ended up with stock 4.4.2 (v50020a) without root and recovery
(I ended up with it through a failed flash, which forced me to use lg tool and "download-mode")

I know some of this has been posted before, but the information is so scattered around the forum that it took me several hours to get this done.

1. root
Only ioroot25 under windows will work.
http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=48709232&postcount=869&nocache=1&z=7334539103321731

2. unlock und flash recovery rom
cwm did not work for me, so I used TMRP v 2.7.0.0 by using the script provided under step 3 in this post (will give you a working TMRP 2.7.0.0)
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2698267

3. flash TMRP 2.7.0.1 while in TMRP 2.7.0.0 (not sure if necesarry, but that is the way I did it)
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2551499

4. reboot to TMRP 2.7.0.1, backup your system, wipe and install ROM of your choice + gapps
I used Infected Nightly Build 20140420 which works perfectly so far.
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2660676

I hope this is of any help to someone.
I think some people might also be thankful if this would be posted in the Infected_'s thread (I can't, too few posts)
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2660676

Update 27/04/14
A couple of days after installing I had severe stability issues (reboots every 5 to 15 minutes). They seem to be resolved after installing SuperSU from the playstore (and thereby exchanging my original su file).

Update 2 27/04/14
Another sudden reboot and I went back to M5 Snapshots instead of nightlies...

Thank you very much for that useful post, BensBad !

Is there any stable, GPE type ROM, that you guys could recommend?
I'm currently on cm-11-20140424-INFECTED-v500, but I do believe this tablet can do even better.
With this ROM I'm only getting ~19000 points in Antutu. With stock KitKat I was getting ~26 000 points. CPU seems to run OK, at a maximum freq. of 1.7 GHz.
Thanks!

Hey guys. Just bought two of these. The WiFI models. Mine is black, the other is white. As soon as I turned the white one on, it asked about the software update. I know I want to root mine. Should I take the update and then root, or don't update it?

Thank you! I was sifting through everything and was coming to these same steps as well, but good to have it properly written down. Worked perfect for me, and I hope everyone that wants to get rooted and a custom recovery while on the official 4.4.2 finds this!

Lets begin shall we? You are reading this, because u bought an amazing tablet and u have good taste just like me :)

In this thread i will mantain updated all the development stuff and guides related to our G Pad 8.3 (LG-V500 Only) all in one place, making it easyer if u are a new user to learn essential things about G Pad, and if u are a normal user to find what you were looking for easyer and faster.

If u have doubts about whats rooting custom roms, custom recoveries, flashing see this thread

First thing to do install our device drivers

    How To Root G Pad?

Currenttly Available Methods - two methods are know so far, other can be added as our tablet is only now beggining is life

1st Method - Kingo Root App Method

    1 - Have Drivers Installed.
2 - Turn on Developer Mode on your G Pad, System Settings-->About Tablet-->Software information-->Tap Build number 7 times.
3 - After Developer Mode is enabled, go to System Settings-->Developer options-->and place checkmark next to USB debugging.
4 - On your PC, go to the Kingo Root website, download and install the program.
5 - Plug your G Pad into your PC via USB cable, run the Kingo Root software and follow the prompts.
    6 - Done!

However exist some discussion around this method as some say that this method injects code on your phone that retrieve some data and sent it to a server in china

Thanks goes to @oesjmr the Kingo People & joshuadjohnson22 for bringing this up.

2nd Method - Rooting Script By dalingrin

    1 - Have Drivers Installed.
2 - Turn on Developer Mode on your G Pad, System Settings-->About Tablet-->Software information-->Tap Build number 7 times.
3 - Run root.bat and Follow The Prompts (Linus & Mac Users should read root.bat and run the same commands on their systems)

    Thanks goes to @dalingrin

Warning: Root will most certainly void your warranty. To get your tablet serviced best would be best to flash back to a stock ROM.
