if a newly purchased comes with the newer build, is it possible to achieve s-off on that?
Device: HTC One M8 | Carrier: VZW 4G | ROM: CleanROM | Kernel: Stock | Radio: Stock | Recovery: TWRP

Dropbox is a great place to store files that you need on the go. Android apps like TiBu can leverage Dropbox. Sign up using http://db.tt/OGvqdBCp and we both get more space.

You 100% sure? I'm deciding what to do first. Update or root/s off

Yes I took the update and didn't have any problems. Just got the phone last night, took the update, s-off'ed and installed a custom recovery. All worked perfectly.

Thanks. I hope the process is just as smooth on a device that has factory loaded the new build.

so see if you have the new build factory installed. try s-off and let us know how it goes.

Well I didn't have the ota but I did s-off and root feels nice being able to install a custom ROM.
