This thread is 10.2; The "occasional" modem drop only applies to cm9 and 10.1 or whatever you can get to work with the new kernel. 10.2 has no mobile data at all, I don't recall the phone losing connection except when in data mode.

DONATE TO ME
Found something that might be related to our modem problems on 10.2.

on cm9:
Code:
shell@android:/system/bin # pppd-ril
FIX ME! implement ttyname() bionic/libc/bionic/stubs.c:432
pppd-ril: no device specified and stdin is not a tty
on cm10.2:
Code:
1|root@olympus:/system/bin # pppd-ril
char* ttyname(int)(3) is not implemented on Android
pppd-ril: no device specified and stdin is not a tty
I plan to do some tracing later. Maybe it will shed some more light on our issue.

char* ttyname(int)(3) is not implemented on Android

@krystianp,
The exact same error is reported on GB (MROM in my case), and we all know the modem works flawlessly on GB, so it doesn't seem that is the problem.

Code:
# pppd-ril
FIX ME! implement ttyname() bionic/libc/bionic/stubs.c:360
pppd-ril: no device specified and stdin is not a tty
