Looking for a ROM to improve battery but otherwise stay as close to stock as possible

Hi. so I'm brand new to rooting and ROMs kernels etc. I have an s4 i9505 4.3.

Over the past couple of days I've been researching and I understand the basics of ROMs and Kernels.I'm happy with my OS and am looking for a ROM that will keep my phone as close to stock as possible but will allow me to rejig and improve my battery life as this is essential for my job. Can anyone recommend any?
Also if anyone could give me a step by step walkthrough of how to 'flash' a custom rom that would be helpful.

Im using omega. Very perfect for my phone. No bugs. You can try it if you want.

The only way to find out which ROM will work best for you is to read the threads and try them out. Everybody will have different opinions on which works best for them.
