Have a bit of a strange issue in writing files to my external hdd.

I have an Allwinner A20 (aka Chinese media android box) connected to my TV through an HDMI cable. I have an external HDD connected to it though USB which contains a bunch of media files. The media box is connected to my router though a LAN cable.

I can access the USB HDD from other computers on the network through a FTP Server I've got setup on the media box but can't seem to figure out permissions to write to it. I can write to the internal drive on the media box, just not the external one.

Using ES File Explorer, the drive is mounted to have both read and write access. I can create and delete files from ES File Explorer. I found this thread but I can already do what others are trying to do. The "rw" permissions already exist.

I'm using FTP Server Ultimate by Ice Cold Apps (link).

Anyone ever seen this before? I've attached my software version and firmware screen shot if that helps.
