I've tried installing several different AOSP roms and had no luck. From simple GPE to TASK650. Can't get any of them to install. Haven't had any issues with sense roms... I've verified that I'm on the latest TWRP recovery, and that I do have root access (used rootchecker), but other than that I can't figure out why my phone doesn't seem to like AOSP roms. I've done a full wipe on every attempt. Any suggestions?

Did you s-off your device too?, unlocking the boot loader and installing a custom recovery is not enough

You do not need soff for all gpe aosp roms. Only certain ones need it and say they do in the op. When you say full wipe are you clicking advanced and selecting dalvik, cache, data, and system? Are you using official 2702 twrp?

Try fastboot erase cache , then load twrp and do advanced wipe with these 4 options.

s-off did not work. though my device is now s-off... so partial win i guess.

but erasing the fastboot cache, and reflashing my recovery worked. Awesome! Thank you. So now I have a GPE M8.

Glad you got it working. Soff is good too for other things
