you need the htc dev unlock code so internet connection is required and for the kernel you need internet connection just to download the kernel

I have managed to update it to 4.2.2, the phone is awesome now but one thing I don't like is how the menu is displaying, instead of normal sideways Its now scrolling up and down and I don't like it that way. Can I change it from settings or is launcher the only solution to that.

Do you know how to root HOX without unlocking the boot loader and it will also turn S-On to S-Off.

No unlocked bootloader is no root, s-off also not possible (only via a shop where you have to pay for it)

Launcher is the way. Up and down is the new stock !

I went through my settings but didn't see where to apply themes, how can I do that.

Where can I download good themes for my phone (cartoons or game themes preferable)

If you have stock ROM only themes you can install are those who were made for stock rom! But njah that..CM etc. have theme choser..
