Default WP 8.1 and HTC 8x battery drain

My friend has a HTC 8x and he updated to the 8.1 dev preview. Even after installing the last update that came out last Wednesday his battery is only lasting him about 4 hours. Because he has a HTC phone there is no way to downgrade him back to 8.0 afaik. Has anybody else experienced this issue, and are there any known fixes? (e.g. if particular apps cause this to happen he could uninstall them if he has them). Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

Hi,

yeah, I also had this problem on my HTC 8x, the battery drain was extreme, after playing around half an hour it was at 30%. Installing the second 8.1 update should help, but I strongly recommend you to flash back to GDR3, my battery drained completedly out. This bricked my phone, it stucks now at HTC logo and can't load anymore. Replacing the battery helped, but you have to disassemble the complete phone to replace.

How to flash 8x:

ROM: http://www.fshare.vn/file/TEWJCLCVT8/
Flashtool: http://www.fshare.vn/file/6M3WFHX5H7/

1. copy rom into Flashtool folder
2. Turn off HTC 8x
3. Hold Vol Up + Vol Down to get to bootloader mode
4. When a white screen appears, connect to USB
5. Start Flashtool and hit next. Flashing should start.
6. You are on stock GDR2! Now you can update by OTA to GDR3.
Primary: Samsung ATIV S | WP 8.1 | currently stock

Secondary: Lumia 520 RM-915 | GDR3 | Interop unlocked

Bricked : HTC 8X | GDR3 | DevUnlock

Please press thanks if I helped!

That is what I see every day

There is no Verizon US ROM available, just flash the Europe rom from the link. The phone will be unbranded after flashing, but everything is working fine

Ok. It's not my phone, but I will offer the suggestion and see if he's willing to let me flash it.
