Most of the Tmobile folks that work there are just doing the basic "minding the store" job, waiting for quitting time so they can go home, they aren't going to scrutinize your phone.
If it starts and boots your good to go.

Very few even know what "root" is.!

You need to go to Chaifire's odin site and read up, there have been mixed results with mobile odin.
