i am about to upgrade from 4.3 to 4.4.2 for my note 3 sm-n900 (exynos version) i have not rooted my device
is there something i should be aware of before upgrading?
will my apps be removed?
should i back-up something?
is there any drawbacks ?
is the upgrade worth it?
i heard there are some issues with the sd card(what is the problem)?

First keep in mind that once you upgrade from 4.3 to 4.4.2 Kitkat you will not
be able to downgrade to 4.3 again.
Any existing nandroid 4.3 Jellybean backups you have will not be useable after
the upgrade.

The only things you might want to backup are your apps which came
from the Google Playstore.

Use an app like Titanium backup to backup your playstore apps if you wish.
Be sure to do a "Factory Data Reset" in your phone before Odin flashing the
official stock 4.4.2 Kitkat rom/firmware for best results.

Good luck!

Please be aware that N900/Exynos models now CAN reset their Knox flag and downgrade - it is not a very simple procedure but now it is possible! Read more here (and for people that want to talk about that procedure please do not post questions in the other development thread, just search for the thread specific for that kind of knox reset / downgrade, I think I have seen one started by one of the guys that have tested that on the N900):

The rest of the post is OK, I also consider Titanium Backup as a much better way to handle backups!
