Hi all,
Is there a way to use the 3.5mm jack on the top as a line-in or microphone port?
Would like to connect an external audio source to play over the Tab's speaker.
Have been looking for an app: no luck yet, any suggestions ?

might be of some help
1: "Is there a way to use the 3.5mm jack on the top as a line-in or microphone port?" Yes this port uses a 3 stage audio jack if you have a audio splitter (split it to audio and mic = 2 jacks )you can use a male to male 3.5 mm jack (OR to a other port)this should work fine like mine i use this with gaming headphones

2.1 : Would like to connect an external audio source -- solution in step 1
2.2 : to play over the Tab's speaker.-- have not tryed playing voice over speakers but i have found these

I thinks this is what you want https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grace.microphone"]microphone it is the newest one i know of

This is a link to similar apps if that does not work Google search

If you want to make the 3 Stage splitter you wil need this diagram

3 stage audio Jack Diagram:
1 2 3 4 ______
< = = =|______|-------> Cable

1. Tip --> Left Channel
2. First Ring --> Right Channel
3. Second Ring --> Ground
4. Sleeve --> Microphone

Wiring Diagram:
1. Green --> Left Channel (+)
2. Red --> Right Channel (+)
3. Blue --> Right Channel (-),
Red-Blue(inside the shielded one) -->Left Channel(-),
Copper --> Microphone (-)
4. White --> Microphone (+)

required items
1x 3stage 3.5mm audio jack
2x female 3.5mm audio jack (no need for 3 stage standard is fine)
1x a peace of salvaged headphone wire or any other 6 core wire cut to desired lenght

Then you just solder one
