There is a bug going on for years in Android, and still not resolved in KitKat, that is: Google is randomly merging some very different contact names when syncing Google contacts (during initial sync).
Unwanted auto-merged contacts are only merged on the phone... they stay separate in the google web interface.
For instance, my name is always merged with my daughter's name on my phone, although we only share the same last name, nothing else.
The bug has been reported here since 2009, but has never been sovled by google.
This has been driving me completely nuts for years
A temporary fix is to manually separate merge contacts in edit mode. This is fine if you have only a couple of unwanted merged contacts, not if you have > 100 merged contacts !!!!
I'm launching this thread to ask if anyone is aware of a definite workaround or if a smart dev could design an app or an Xposed module that would fix this bug by deactivating the auto-merge contact function
Ideally, this app or module should also be able to list all merged contacts and offer to separate them if unwillingly auto-merged by google
I don't care about the contact merge function in android, I want it to be disabled but don't know how
Any help would be greatly appreciated
