Default [Q] I feel like a NOOB

I've been looking everywhere and can't find how to pause a ls command so I can see the top part of the list before it goes past the screen..

like DIR has /p , how do you pause a ls command? or at the very least port it to a more command like " dir :more" ?

'ls | more'

Use the Enter key to scroll down.

You can also use:

'ls | less'

You can scroll up and down with either j/k or arrow keys. To exit, type 'q'.
