Default Navigation bar

Is there anyway to remove the whats new icon when holding over home on the nav bar?

You can use gravity box and xposed

You need root though

Thanks, I found using titanium backup and deleting the what's new application just removes it as well which is pretty cool 😎

On an unrelated note (or related to the navbar), can anyone tell me if it is possible to have a transparent navbar on stock UI with no root/unlocked bootloader? I tried using Nova and google launcher but both seem to have a blacked out navbar but transparent notification bar.
