Arrow Official T-Mobile WinMo6.5 "Upgrade" Opinion (kind of @NRGZ28 related)

Official T-Mobile WinMo6.5 "Upgrade" Opinion (kind of @NRGZ28 related)
I just flashed (or whatever it’s called) the official T-Mobile RUU_Rhodium_S_TMOUS_1.91.531.4_Radio_Rhodium_4.49. 25.57_Signed_Ship.exe upgrade. I have been using NRGroms since I first received my TP2 which I think was in Oct. I actually sometimes still use an old ROM I like best, EnergyROM 23016 Rhodium 10.17.09 Standard. 23016 has been my favorite upgrade build for WinMo I think. But what do I know about the background work. I just know it’s had the best stability of all ROMs I’ve used and 23016 and has the better customizable standard 6.5 start menu. For example, when you long press and item instead of saying “Move to Top”, it lets you drag it anywhere a la Droid home screen. Well not as customizable. I didn't even try the original stock ROM until the 3rd or 4th TP2 I "purchased" for a friend or family member. Right now they are FREE and you can even get $100 for your old smartphone lying around. I sent in an old Tmo Dash non 3g that I fuct up and got the rebate. You can get that rebate here http://www.htctradein.com/t-mobile/ . As for the link for the free phone I don’t want to post it to keep it active as long as possible. But if you really want it though, just PM me.

Ok so back to the Official 6.5 Rom. Well about say 6-7 hours of use I can say that I will more than likely be heading back to EnergyROM_21885_RHODIUM_31.Dec.2009_Standard or the 23016 build. There are few things irk me that aren’t done off the bat on the new Tmo build. First is the 3 row start menu which I know can be easily changed to 4, but it isn’t. Also, when you lay the phone face down the speakerphone does not automatically activate. The folders aren’t nicely managed on the huge start menu. (Sorry I’m a little baked so can’t think clearly. Just went to a friend’s house to pick up 2 laptops I’m going to fix for him and he greeted me at the sink with a great already loaded gravity bong with some decent nug so I’m not thinking to clearly and can’t remember everything I really hate.) I don’t like Manila, I use SPB Mobile Shell, but this one doesn’t compare to 2.5 of even the 2.1 on NRGs. Umm the background is a little ehh. Of course no tethering and all other great included NRG freeware apps he cooked in. Umm it comes with 6.5 build 21881.5.0.84 compared to NRG 218815 that I use. Lots of bloatware somewhere or official apps I haven’t yet tried to remove but when installing my first cab I noticed there a good chunk of internal memory missing compared to the much lighter NRG build with much more useful freeware included. It must be the included TeleNav app, plus a few others.

So don’t get me wrong, it’s a great Official Rom. For a standard user off the street I’d definitely recommend it to. I’m just comparing it to what I am used to. Every time I get an Android, I come right back. WinMo is by far the supreme OS to me. I just can’t wait for “Windows Phone 7.” I don’t post much so don’t get upset if I post in the wrong place or if I comeback to say the original point I meant to make in this opinion that I forgot somewhere along the tree branched mix up there. What does everyone else think? What do you not like or **** do you like. Got to get back to business as usual but wanted to leave a little insight on the official ROM for those of you thinking of making the switch. In my honest opinion, just keep the NRG because it’s not worth the hassle and I’ve already done a lot of work customizing NRG ROMS to my preference. Well take easy. Sorry again for the Larry David-esque post about nothing.

Default Download link?

Is there a link where the Official T-Mobile 6.5 rom can be downloaded from? I searched Google on the name that you listed, "T-Mobile RUU_Rhodium_S_TMOUS_1.91.531.4_Radio_Rhodium_4.49. 25.57_Signed_Ship.exe" and only found this thread in my results.

THanks!

Hey man,
My name's josh, Just wonderin what the purpouse of you're thread is. i'm a little confused about it, it disscusses NRG's rom and the official rom, both have they're own threads. Why start a new thread??

Well from reading his post, he said he is "baked" so one can only assume baked+computer=pointless posts.

In all seriousness though, I find the big problem I have with the new Unofficial "official" Tmo US rom is that it is just way too slow. Everything else aside, the slowness is what kills this rom for me. However its nice to have an offical rom to downgrade to in the event that the phone breaks or w/e.

And come on. We finally have visual voicemail on our TP2's!!
