Default Method to ROOT "Sony Z1 C6903 Unlocked International Version LTE"

Hello Legends!
XDA Forum,
I recently bought "Sony Z1 C6903 Unlocked International Vesion LTE" with Android 4.3 JB. but I willing to Root My phone and Read many articles about it but I am in still confusion; what should i Do "ROOT first and unlocked boot loader --or-- Unlocked Boot-loader first and root?"

Also Planning to upgrade to 4.4 KitKat. so, which will be the better to Root 4.3 JB --or-- 4.4 KitKat ?

Hoping you guys will help me on this matter

Regards,
Clasher_RS

Wrong section

First READ, there are hundreds of guides in the relevant sections

then root.

No need to unlock the bootloader

Thank you #gregbradley

Actually, I wanted to Flash Custom ROM on my Device but many article says: "Unlocking the boot loader allows you to put custom ROMs on your device" It is true ?

It depends if the custom rom needs a custom kernel, some do, some don't

But in general, if you find the custom rom in the development section you only need root and not an unlocked bootloader, but if it is in the original development section then you need an unlocked bootloader as that rom requires a custom kernel.
