I have always purchased my phones on Craigslist before (s4, s3,)..so I never had to worry about tripping knox since I didn't have a warranty to begin with. I just purchased a new S5 for Sprint with a contract, I know that if I root it, it will trip knox. Does this mean that if I want to return phone within 14 days I cannot? Or what about with sprint insurance, does it cover if knox is on?? Or does it only affect whether Samsung will service it or not?? I bought the phone at Best Buy.

If you take the phone in for repair because something isn't acting right and they see that Knox has been tripped they'll void your warranty.

Your insurance should cover anything that happens to it, including bricking it with a tripped Knox. @AdRock02gt is right that it'll void your warranty and if the representative is savvy he'll check to make sure Knox is not tripped. If it is then you can't return within the 14 days nor send it to Samsung for repair.

Just my opinion but I wouldn't. If you want insurance check out SquareTrade.
