Edit: Originally used root de la vega method for the note3. Mobile odin requires root.
The procedure to inject root with mobile odin pro is on the international note 3 forum.
Worked for my tmo note 3 upgrading to 4.3 and not lose root, but only flashing the original firmware.
Any custom rom, custom recovery or custom kernel will trip knox.
This is not tested yet on the note 10.1 2014.
Will check on the mobile odin thread or Chainfire's blog.

Tripping knox for now is irreversible and voids the warranty.
Normal device operation is not affected. What is lost is the security feature.
Only a concern if your company uses knox, and you use your device for work.

I am going to wait a few weeks, hoping for a no knox tripping root method,
to keep the warranty. But I know that eventually will not care on tripping knox.

Thanks very much for the info! So if I understand correctly, a KNOX-compatible root may come out eventually, but if I EVER want to flashare a custom rom, I'm gonna lose my warantee?

That sucks. I remember when I was getting my first two phones and the good old days of just flashing back to the original firmware to take my phone to the Sprint store.

Anyway sorry for derailing a bit. I will probably wait for just a little bit to make sureservations I'm enjoying this tablet, but will be happy to jump on the testing train after that. I'm sure my curiosity will get the better of me sooner rather than later :p

I can confirm simply flashing TWRP then flashing SuperSU works for root and S-Pen is still fully functional.

I can also confirm flashing TWRP then SuperSU worked without any problems on the brand new SM-P607T. I used Odin 3.09. S-Pen fully functional & everything. Now on to freezing some bloatware.

...my curiosity got the better of me last night. I too can confirm that root works using the same method as these gentlemen. Odin 3.09 for me as well. I used the recovery file from the quoted post on the previous page. My s pen also works!

I must be missing something somewhere.

I flashed the TWRP via ODIN and was prompted by TWRP to download and install SU.

When I rebooted the SU icon was there and when opened it prompted for an updated. Either via TWRP or play store. It will only update via play store but afterward get prompted that the SU binaries are not installed and to re-root.

Is there a SU version I can push via ODIN instead?

You need to follow the instructions here exactly. Same thing happened to me. You need to flash SuperSU with TWRP manually, its different from the built in TWRP flash. I found the link to the zip via this thread somehow, I forget. Just find the latest SuperSU zip and flash that.

Did that. Got the superuser zip from chainfire and flashed via TWRP and still says the binaries aren't loaded.

About to flash stock and start over.

I hate to ask, but I don't really use ODIN often and I would like to root my tablet as well.

Can someone provide specific step-by-step instructions? Nothing extensive, just the cliff notes version.

I'm having trouble flashing the recovery because ODIN can't find the file since it's not a .PDA file, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong :\

Flash TWRP reboot to recovery (do not boot the system). Flash supersu via recovery reboot to system.

Extract the file as odin is looking for a .tar file.

Thank you, sir!

I was able to root it by doing what you said with the recovery. I used the recovery to flash the SuperSU file after I did a first reboot, so I am officially rooted.... AND the S-Pen still works!

You have the link to the SU file you flashed via TWRP? Not working for me and thinking I downloaded the wrong one.

What's the chance of this root process working on the Verizon 605V model of the Note 10.1 2014 edition ?

as long as you have the Full stock Odin firmware it can't hurt to try since you can always odin back to stock, but don't take my word for it. The dev work on this tablet seems to be dead there is nothing. It looks like there is one rom for the 605. So for now I am sticking to a stock deboated rooted rom which seems to work fine. Hopefully the dev work picks up.

Just got mine from T Mobile the other day and was very excited to see that I could already root it, was getting annoyed using the OTG cable with my six axis controller!

Many thanks to everyone who posted what to do here :good::good:

The only thing i cant seem to find is an app/tweak that will allow multi window with 4 windows... I keep reading that its possible but cannot find a working program anywhere

Everything function fine including S-Pen with flashing TWRP and then flashing SuperSU from TWRP.

These are the steps I did to root and flash SuperSU

1. Download TWRP from here URL="http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=53138918&postcount=776"]http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=53138918&postcount=776[/URL]
2. Download SuperSU from here http://www.getlocalization.com/supersu/
3. Unzip SuperSu and place it on tablet or ExSDCard
4. Boot in down download mode
5. Plug your tablet into computer
6.. Open Odin and you should see a Blue tab that says something like Com1
7. Flash the TWRP recovery file in either PDA (Odin 3.0.7) or AP (Odin 3.0.9)
8. While rebooting hold volume up to boot into recovery
9. Flash the SuperSu file you downloaded
10. Reboot to system and check root using root checker
11. Have fun

Thanks so much!

Will this also work on the 4.4.2 version? Also, just confirming this does trip knox, right?
