I got my beloved MAXX water soaked. I did the normal dry it out that we all know, but no luck. So I took it apart and the water indicators on the main board showed no indication of water damage. The small ribbon connector on the back right bottom of the LCD show signs of shorting out and over heating. Also it shows no signs of life when plugged in to the computer. ADB does not find it and its the same system I pushed the unlock code to unlock the bootloader . Is there a chance replacing the LCD may fix it? Or if I sell it on eBay where I am unable to wipe my personal info come back to bite me ? Just looking for a few ideas on what to do.

If you had enough overheating to be visible the display driver hardware is fried at minimum. A new LCD won't fix that.

Sorry, I think your main board is toast.

This is one of the reasons a removable battery would have been really nice. Even if it's shorted you could often pull the battery before the ICs reach their damage point.
