I've seen the shield being used to control Parrot Drones, which seems an idle pairing of screen controller and quadcopter.
I use other brands of helicopters, namely "blade" brand, and tho I don't own a blade brand quadcopter, I would prefer to have one over a parrot.

My question:
Is there a way to use the shield as a controller/screen for a camera, with other brands of RC helicopters and or even RC cars?

The link between the Shield and the Drone that is made for it, is not RC. It is Bluetooth. The Shield does not have an RC transceiver, so since it is Bluetooth the range of operation is also much more limited.
