Default [Q] need some help installing custom recovery on already rooted device

i have a k2_ul device, rooted, 2.00 hboot, locked, S-OFF. i rooted it via moonshine last year and later upgraded to android 4.2.2. i never installed a custom recovery but want to install TWRP now.

when i wanted to install TWRP via fastboot i got

writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: not allowed)
i suspect this ti because my device is LOCKED (i think that it was unlocked after moonshine but got locked when upgrading to 4.2.2, but not sure).

would need some help here. how can i unlock my device again? can i do it without and without deleting all user data.

i searched threads in general section but couldn't find my answers, i appologise if i overlooked something.

ps - also, is my hboot 2.00 ok for the latest TWRP?

Here is the guide you are searching for:
Go a bit down to "- To unlock"
And yes, you need to be unlocked to flash recovery.
Main Devices:

- HTC One (M8)
S-Off | Insert Coin | ElementalX | TWRP

- HTC One SV
Index Thread: Search and find all what belongs to HTC One SV

Other devices: HTC Desire S | Asus TF 101 | HTC HD mini
