Default Kindle Stuck On Boot Logo

I can't fix this thing for the life of me. I've tried installing drivers with luck in Windows 8.1 and when you go to "Device Manager" it is recognized but when you try to use any of the tools listed to access the kindle...it says no device found

I struggled and succeeded with windows 8.1. First, when you plug the kindle into a USB port, it must do something in windows. If it shows up wrong, then we switch drivers. What is it in the device manager?
Also, be sure that your kindle is cycled off. The button must be held in for quite some time.
