I'm about to start a big game development project. It's going to be a story-driven game, and I will be making everything from the art to the code. Obviously, this will be very time consuming, so in order to make sure I don't end up wasting more time that I need to, I want to have a clear plan on what I'm going to do and how I'm going to attack the project. I only have 2 months before school starts, so I want to get it done by then.
Here are the questions:
What were some of your most difficult/extensive/time-consuming projects? Utility/professional apps? Or video games? What about these projects took so long? Was it the coding, the aesthetics, the marketing, or something else?
How successful did these apps turn out? Did your time and focus end up paying off, or do you wish you focused on a separate aspect of the app or a different app altogether?
Thanks for the answers, and thanks for any advice. For a beginning app developer, it's really greatly appreciated.
