Edit: just fyi, yes I have a fastboot/recovery cable.
I would downgrade the os to a earlier version as I have seen issues with people rooting the latest os. I also believe cm 11 is if anything faster than amazon os. I recommend it, I have used it myself for over a year and have no complaints.
Dolby is a bit iffy, I think hashcode tried to do some work on it but I don't remember how far it went because its closed source. I just use viper4android with cm 11 and its probably better than Dolby enhancements.
