[Q] Current Root Exploits

Currently we have 2 possibilities without bootloader unlock correct? One that requires flashing an older build and one that does not from my understanding of the jumbled posts.

Any reason to not do the first method as then I won't need to mess around with FTF?

No, just use the newest method which neither requires unlocking nor downgrading. Works just fine (if you read the respective threads carefully and if you don't act hastily).
