Rooting a T559 on jelly bean

My cousin wants to root his T599. Everything I have read is doing it from Gingerbread. His device is on 4.1.2. Can it be rooted through the same method as Gingerbread, Recovery and rootstock.zip?

look for t599 in the titles

seems the s3 mini an t599 are almost identical, but the roms are NOT interchangeable
