And so there should be.
There is NO such thing as FREE.
Android is a data marketing/mining platform.
You either pay with your faux fiat currency, or your personal information...
Rooted with this hosts file, secdroid & xprivacy gives the end user back some control on that platform.
What the OP does here is awesome. I won't complain about ups & downs in file size. I haven't let GooGle turn me into an autonomous Android yet. I can add removed lines all by myself, I'm a big boy...
I agree with some points you just said...
But im talking about the free apps made by independent developers.
And in what way do you pay with your personal info? My statement was about free apps from independent devs.
My apps don't collect private info, you can always use xprivacy / any other app, if it makes you feel saffer.
I was talking about the bloquing of adds on free apps, since this is the only way of revenue for such devs.
So we are left with:
A: Either making the app free with adds.
B: ... or putting an price tag on it...
What do you think its best?
But becouse of this, some things are now changing ( why did Google removed all ad bloquers from the Play ? )
A lot of apps now, don't have an free version.
A lot of devs stopped working on making Android apps
Conclusion:
i understand the use of ad-bloquers, there are indeed some anoying adds all over the web.
But i cant agree bloquing adds from the free apps. This only stopps further development.
If everyone starts thinking like you do ( bloquing every single add there is) Android would never reached its current state.
I don't expect that you understand this... it wasn't you that spent days/weeks/months coding that nice free app that you like so much...
This is my opinion on this matter.
