Database High Performance Rom and Update with root

Hello,

As many of you, I still have the 2012 N7 (wifi only, 16gb). It's a great tablet, but it's aging really fast.

So, can anyone recommend a good rom? I don't care about visual effects, launchers, themes, or any of that.. I just want performance.

I'm currently using the stock rom rooted, and with Seeder in aggressive mode (Is there anything better than this?)

If there isn't, should I update to 4.4.4? If so, how?

I updated via OTA to 4.4.3 last week and I lost my root, so I guess updating that way again will unroot my device.

Thank you!
