I was wondering if anyone knows how to manually flash just the firmware of the new update as long as you are soff? I know with my m7, new firmwares would come out all the time and you would just
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip

Can you just flash the firmware.zip out of the ota package? I don't have the balls to try it, but was wondering what needs to happen to make this possible.

Edit..
Just confirmed that flashing the firmware.zip does not erase anything except your recovery. Use the above commands if you are interested.

I was just gonna chime in and say yes, you can do it. That's exactly what I did. I also noticed that it flashed the stock kernel, and I had to re-root

This seems very large for a fw... Can we just pull it out of the zip and do that?
