I received a reply from the store that had my N8010 returned
"Samsung were able to confirm the unit has not been repaired due to the device being "Rooted" for third party or alternative Android Software. Faults caused as a result of the unit being Rooted are not covered by the guarantee, as this method of software adjustment is not supported by the manufacturer."
Hmmm. well that wasn't a total surprise, and there's not a huge amount I can do really. The statement is I guess accurate.... I'm waiting to pick up the device so I may try some of these other ideas. If all else fails I guess it's time to upgrade. My automatic choice would be the 2014 edition, now there's the -S, but no spen.. and the experience with samsung is a bit bitter - not so much in the reply but the fact it took them ONE MONTH to say no.
Hopefully I'll get the brick back in a few days and will spend a little more time trying to recover.......
