OK I gave this ROM a shot and I'm pretty annoyed to be honest!

In all my years of flashing custom ROMs never has a ROM changed my entire device as much as this.

A flashed V1.1 and afterwards I have a different modem version (now NE5) I have a different recovery (Now TWRP) and I have a completely blank SD card.

I was expecting the recovery change as it's mentioned in OP.
But as far as I understood, it wouldn't change modem and there was no mention of it totally wiping my internal SD.
Are these steps really necessary?

I know it says to back everything up, but that's pretty much standard disclaimers for any ROM flash.

Maybe you should make it clearer in OP that by flashing this ROM you will change modem, recovery, ROM and have your internal SD wiped.

ok..before I say what I really feel like saying can anyone back up these wild claims? anyone else had this happen? As there is no modem included I think changing baseband would be a major achievement...

I stand corrected, modem wasn't changed by flashing this ROM, my apologies.
It did, however, erase my internal SD card.
Or more accurately, after flashing this ROM my internal SD was empty.

Is this a necessary step in installing this ROM?
just seems weird to me, as no other ROM I've flashed had done this.

P.S
No need to be hostile mate.
I just think that if this ROM does indeed wipe internal SD card when flashing then it should be in pretty big, bold font in OP. it's a pretty major thing.

Hostility done with...

But no internal sd wipe with this rom, check the install script. Did you install via twrp or Rom Customizer? If twrp/recovery flash did you accidentally tick wrong box?

No, I used my normal recovery to flash (Philz)
I did thoroughly read OP before hand and I assumed this wouldn't matter, I would just have no choices of themes etc during install?

hhhhm very odd then, it must have been something I did.

My apologies, for accusing your ROM of wiping my SD.
I'm still puzzled as to what I did exactly, but it was obviously error on my part.

I'll install TWRP and enjoy taking your ROM for spin!

Thank you

EDIT 2: why cant i access 4g/lte?

sigh this isnt working for me.
went from another rom and flashed it through recovery loaded up but then wifi /daa wouldnt work so i flashd the mdem provded but that didnt help at all. also my recovery was downgraded which expected.

i tried to change kernel but then it just wont boot up past the bootscreen

so i wemt back to my other rom and used the rom customiser and selected everything except kernel or recovery (after updating my recovery) and clicked flash and let it reboot into twrp. it didnt do anything in twrp so i just restarted and im stil on my old rom.

what am i doing wrong and why can i not get wifi on this rom even after running the modem through odin.

edit: flashing I9505XXUFNC9-WiFi-FIX(NON-HLOS seems to have worked so far

Because I support 3 devices, run a business and try to have a life too...Kids mode apps are available here on xda, i flashed them on my note 2 they all work

People don't appreciate native mods anymore. They all just want latest Base (even if there are no great changes) thrown together in a couple of hours and to play xposed roulette. Shame

How very true. No one gives a **** that we spend hundreds of hours to make something truly unique and original so someone can call their phone "theirs."

Xposed sucks. Having to reboot every change. If these guys want that I say let them go. They might as well buy an iphone too. Since they like generic and everything. :p

I've always wondered what the obsession is with having the latest base....we all know 98% of the ROMs Samsung release are identical and the actual changes are miniscule

Last year I noticed a massive drop in users after I didn't update to the latest base (nothing was different)

And xposed doesn't run as fast as hardcoded mods, and you have to reboot most of them...

I've noticed that alliancerom for the s4 is not getting anywhere near as much attention as ROMs with xposed in...and that's just sad as alliance have way more mods in than anyone (without using xposed too)

Wow... I started a war here :)))

Well, if you look at post #129 you will see that I already tried V1.0, but was not for me. And I had no answer...
I said over there that I need kids mode, I did not know until now that you can have it on a old base.
Hundred of hours guys? Yes, I'm sure, but like all the rest of us at what we are doing. And not complaining :) I like what I do

I say it again: for me (and I saw for many others) installation was a bit weird.
Why rom customizer?????? If you already have TWRP and you flash the rom, it works!
Why not say "Use TWRP"??
The thing with newer base is mostly psychological: it means that the dev is more closer to the users, more involved.
Other than this, yes, you are right , many times its not a big deal...

Finally, please don't get me wrong. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND YOUR CONTRIBUTION
But in the end I choose what I want from here and from the rest of my time, as it should be :)

Cheers

You sound pleased with yourself for irritating people who do this for free. Do us a favor and find someone else to disrespect. ROM Customizer is part of what makes alliance so cool. It integrates OTA functionality with the ability to flash live and has root browser and app installer for both system and user apps.

    about.png

AllianceROM intends to give the user what THEY want. Tired of flashing Roms and having to ask for little changes to suit your taste? Tired of having to manually change colors of the toggles or the battery or move your clock or make statusbar transparent or any of the other multitude of other little color and style tweaks that Android users love? Tired of flashing AROMA installer for every little change you want to make? Tired of having to add your favourite images everytime a new rom comes out?

If you answer yes to any of these then AllianceROM is for you! We have a huge array of "on the fly" options for you to play with. Make your phone to YOUR style. YOUR color. YOUR perfection.

Available in Stock or AOSP, selectable on install, the majority of modifications in AllianceROM are OPTIONAL. Many you wont find on any other TW ROM and some you wont find anywhere...Xposed, AOSP or otherwise! You can turn them on and off at will. We try not to impose many things on people because we realise that Android is all about INDIVIDUALITY. Make YOUR Rom and YOUR phone how YOU want it and change it on a whim.

Choose from 17 preset UI Styles (shown in screenshots tab above) and change them with a click. No rebooting

AllianceROM - Designed to be Individual....

    Alliance Manager App

Alliance Manager is a one stop shop to theme your device. You can choose from a selection of preset themes and also backup all of your settings from Custom Settings.

This app does not install images (apart from system/dropdown and statusbar wallpaper). It sets entries for the Alliance Mods to read. Here is some examples of what you can do....
