So I just bought the pro version.

I am having a hard time figuring out Tasker though. Is there a way to make it so when I open an app, Tasker will automatically turn off the backlight on my phone?

Yes. In Tasker create a profile that activates when you launch a particular app. For the task, select Plugin -> SecondScreen - Quick Actions, press the edit button and choose Backlight Off. Then long-press the task associated with the profile and select Add Exit Task. Do the same thing for the exit task except choose Reset settings in the plugin.

Default Dim backlight option

Hi,
I tried your app and had strange behaviour : at the editing the profiles, the 'dim backlight' option was disabled... Is it a device related thing (is this option on some devices disabled) or did I something wrong?
I'm on ArchyDroid 1.x with S3 (I9300)

The "Turn backlight off" feature is only compatible with Snapdragon and Tegra chipsets; the I9300 uses an Exynos. (The Snapdragon based S3's can't fully dim the backlight anyway so I doubt the I9300 model would behave any different)
