Did it on my Xperia SX. The XSP 128 recovery is working ok. Step 15-17 is not needed on my phone. It converts new partition to EXT4 automatically.
To keep new partition untouched, I think it is ok to flash ftf with userdata removed. A factory reset/data wipe may be needed to keep data consistency.

Yes, it will work on V. However, please take a look at the previous posts this thread about constraints of V's smaller storage.
