I'm getting a smilar (or the same) error.
I'm on an XT925,
CWM 22.214.171.124 (tried 126.96.36.199 but it left the screen pretty green).
Installing MK44.4-moto_msm8960-140719-RELEASE on either a freshly formatted device OR overtop of a freshly installed cm-11-20140708-NIGHTLY-moto_msm8960-epinter (which works).
I receive the following message:
-- Installing: /sdcard/0/ROMs/MK44.4-moto_msm8960-140719-RELEASE.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
This package is for "moto_msm8960, xt907, scorpion_mini, smq, xt926, vanquish" devices; this is a "xt925".
E:Error in /sdcard/0/ROMs/MK44.4-moto_msm8960-140719-RELEASE.zip
I too think there is a bootloader issue I'm not taking into account. Any advice would be appreciated greatly.
Ok, so after reading through a fair number of threads:
(start here and branch - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2760840
- the XT926's got new bootloader firmware, some of the XT925's did, there is testing going on for full rollout to the rest of the XT925
- Without the new kitkat bootloader these kitkat builds based on the new kernel will not work
- Flashing the leaked firmware results will make things work but is reported to be buggy
- Reverting back to the JB bootloader is annoying as well
Conclusion - waiting on new bootloader, will use CM11 until then (cannot find older version MoKee [as easily as epinter's build of cm11])
Hope that helps if someone is struggling
