Also, just curious, how'd you find this thread?
Ok, I'll let you know how it works out...I'm familiar with the site, I came across your thread while looking for a way to root my phone. All google searches brought up several videos but most of the posted links were down. Decided to start looking through the threads and yours stood out... Stock to Kit Kat in less than 10 minutes... Can't beat that... Lol

Will I lose all installed apps if I upgrade using this method?

It sounds like people have troubles with gps and 4g after going to 4.4. Is there anyway to maintain their functionality?

yes, you will lose all installed apps. Just backup with titanium backup or reinstall apps through play store.... GPS is currently working on the latest Villuminati rom, but 4g isn't working on any 4.4 rom

As said above, use Titanium Backup, and your data will be recoverable as long as you have your nandroid backup (the one you made in the backup step of this guide), otherwise yes, you will not be able to access app data. Though anything on your internal/external SD will remain, such as Pictures, Music, etc.

GPS works, but Google removed regular 4G (Non LTE) support with 4.4, not much we can do. D:

Glad to hear it. I take it this is your first ROMming experience? Or are you moving from another device?

No, I've rooted several phones... Og Evo, Evo shift, Transform, Photon, Photon Q, S2, S3, S4, and some others I can't remember right now... Lol, I've rooted every phone I've gotten my hands on. Samsung phones are a different beast, use to HTC phones. I'm a cautious person when it comes to flashing different roms...still trying to get use to flashing this phone...

The only dangerous thing about flashing this device is using an ICS kernel, we have a thing called the EMMC Brickbug, if you try to wipe data on an ICS recovery that's not safe (Such as some stock ICS kernels), your phone will be destroyed, with no known method of recovery other than board replacement. But any other kernel is fine .
