And the third one could not work the temp-root.

So, only sunshine left!

I just want to root to remove ads, to use some other apps that need root such as ntfs mount, and also flash the cerberus anti-theft (not very important) to make it difficult to remove.
I don't want custom roms, kernels etc...
Hmm.. That's what you mean my permanent root?

I did it the old fashioned way where I unlocked the bootloader, booted recovery image then flashed super user.

(Did you not want to void warranty?) Otherwise Sunshine is left!

I do NOT want to void warranty, that's why I am looking for something. All methods say to use HTCDev.

So, I have only sunshine left!

Its a shame that its so much trouble. If it were easier to update SU binaries on HTC devices towelroot would have worked fine.

But looking around Sunshine works well for other M8 users.

That would be great. I downloaded the file in the OP, it updated, and now every time I double click on the application it acts like its going to open with file explorer graying out but then it never opens.

It seems to be an issue with the updater on the actions after the update. When I updated 2 dlls were deleted, are there missing files for you? If they are try extracting the 2 dlls into the same folder as before.

Sorry for the troubles!

Yep, I extracted 3 Dll's from the posted version in the second/first post and now it works.

Thanks man.
